AMSTELTOREN

For plot 1 in the Amstelkwartier in Amsterdam, we designed a 21-story apartment building right along the Amstel river.

The design is characterized by its elegant shape, lively plinth, and public ‘roof park’ that connects the building to the river.

The program includes high-end apartments, as well as public plinth with double functions, such as a bike store annex coffee bar and an art gallery annex hairdresser.

With this active plinth, we sought to activate the adjacent neighbourhood while at the same time creating a new public space along the waterfront. A public staircase leads visitors to a large green roof with views over the Amstel river.
